What are the signs that your septic tank is full?

If your septic system is not operating properly you will be able to tell from a few significant signs.  These signs include pipe gurgling, slow drains, toilet flushing issues, water backup, bad odors, greener grass where the septic system is, and patches of standing water.

How do I keep my septic system healthy?  Do's and Dont's

Do:

  • Flush human waste and toilet paper only
  • Use septic safe or 1-ply toilet paper

Don't:

  • Flush baby wipes, paper towels, napkins, or kleenex (even if it says it is "flushable")
  • Flush dental floss or medications
  • Flush personal products (tampons, condoms, etc.)
  • Flush food waste (grease, cereals, etc.)

Are long showers bad for septic systems?

The average person uses around 80 to 100 gallons of water per day, with 20-30% going to toilets. This means that if you are in the habit of washing your clothes and taking long showers every day, it is easy for septic systems to become overloaded because they can't process so much liquid at once! In order for solids from sewage treatment tanks break up before wastewater enters drain fields which carry away waste after good bacteria breaks down organic matter.

How long Can a Septic System Last For?

With good every day care and proper septic tank cleaning from a reliable septic company, septic tanks can last up to 50 years.  It's much cheaper to have our team consistently clean your septic tanks than to ignore it and experience a costly replacement.
